Impermanence
“where cells fade & flowers wilt, new life quietly begins”

Impermanence is an exploration of the past, present, and future— an acknowledgment that nothing lasts forever, yet there is profound beauty in the temporary. While society often glorifies youth and preservation, I wanted to honor the truth that aging, with all its wrinkles, scars, and stories, holds its own quiet grace. This work is both a meditation and a message to my loved ones: there is beauty in the passage of time, and in the imperfections it leaves behind.
At the heart of the piece, the imagery of my grandparents stands as an homage to my roots. Surrounding them, I layered cellular and floral forms to reflect the evolution of time within the body, mind, and world. Cells—constantly regenerating, dying, and renewing—mirror the cycles of life that sustain us. Flowers, too, must wilt past their prime so that new growth may emerge. Together, these motifs speak to the inevitability of change and the quiet, overlooked beauty within life’s transient processes.
Through this painting, I wanted to look beyond the surface—to what keeps us alive, to what connects us all. It is a reminder that impermanence is not loss, but transformation.
